Betting markets still favour Clinton in Iowa


As the traditional opening leg of the nomination process, the Iowa caucuses are always a big, worldwide media story. Particularly so in the United Kingdom, and not just because of our ‘special relationship’ with the USA.

Britain is a big political market and also home to the world’s most sophisticated betting industry – even more so than gambling meccas like Las Vegas. This year’s presidential cycle seems certain to be the biggest political betting event of all-time, with gamblers across the world signing up to British betting sites primarily for this purpose.

The reason is simple. The unique candidacies of Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders have captured the imagination like never before. Both Republican and Democrat races are fascinatingly poised going into Iowa, and this opening caucus is absolutely pivotal in terms of building momentum.
